This is the current lampshade project I am working on. It is a square pleated shade that goes on a glass floor lamp.
This pleated shade cover is a fabric strip that is wrapped from the top of the shade frame to the bottom, inside and out, to look like a pleat. It is actually a strip of fabric.
The floor lamp has two bulbs that go sideways. There is not much room between the shade and bulb, so I believe the wrap for the shade was appropriate.
I will wrap the wire frame with binding and work outside the frame to keep the shade and lamp orientation safe.
I will be using a fabric pleat called “Fortuny”. The fabric is a poly charmeuse. It will look very different from the structured uniform pleat that is on the original shade but will be a very elegant finish for the glass floor lamp.
I am anxious to work with the Fortuny Charmeuse. It is a beautiful fabric pleated by “Tom and Son’s International Pleating” in New York.
A very special “Thanks” to “Lighting By Design” in N. Canton, Ohio for the customer referral.
