Liners deteriorate, over time, due to light bulbs. The lamp base will last forever, but the shade will not. Often times, the lampshade cover will not be damaged but the liner will shred just by touching it. Once the liner starts to tear it falls apart.
I am able to remove the original trim, replace the liner and re-attach the original trim. The lampshade looks no different, maybe just a brighter light.
This shade is beautifully done. The pleating on the bottom of the shade is unique and adds a nice accent to the shade. All I did was replace the liner.
I strongly suggest using the EcoSave light bulbs. They do not give off the heat that causes damage to the lampshade liners.
