Antique gold Stiffel Lampshade repair. The spider wire was attached with a bronze gold paper tape. The paper tape weakened after many years of use and the shade let loose from the top of the shade.

The original bronze paper tape is not available on todays market. I used a dark brown grosgrain and trimmed with metallic gold soutache to offset the difference.

These antique gold shades are no longer available. Most often, the hard cardboard cracks and cannot be repaired or replaced. I strongly suggest using eco-friendly bulbs to prolong the life of these vintage shades.
