Florida Lampshade Restored for Vintage Swing-Arm Lamp

Vintage swing arm lamps are particularly nice beside a chair. They typically sit on a globe and have an arm extension that is adjustable.

The original cover was shredding. The wire was also rusting and needed treated and painted before even starting the fabric restoration. If you do not treat a rusting wire, the rust will work its way through the fabric and turn orange.

The restored shade has an ivory silk charmeuse cover. The trim is the original braided trim. The gold accents did not really show on the original shade but really stood out when applied to the new cover. The beaded trim was trim my customer took off candlelight shades.

Antique gold Stiffel Lampshade repair. The spider wire was attached with a bronze gold paper tape. The paper tape weakened after many years of use and the shade let loose from the top of the shade.

The original bronze paper tape is not available on todays market. I used a dark brown grosgrain and trimmed with metallic gold soutache to offset the difference.

These antique gold shades are no longer available. Most often, the hard cardboard cracks and cannot be repaired or replaced. I strongly suggest using eco-friendly bulbs to prolong the life of these vintage shades.

Antique 1960’s French Drum Lampshades Restored, Relined

These Antique 1960’s French table lampshades are the largest fabric drum shades I have ever worked on. The dimensions are 18” top by 19” bottom and 20” high. The “Classic By Diane” lampshades are completely hand sewn, trim and all. Her lampshades are impeccable. The golden striped lampshade covers are most unusual. The shades are as pretty off as when the light is on.

Antique French Lampshades Relined, Restored

The lampshade liners were shredding. The fact that the lamp shades were hand sewn, made possible removing the original trim without damaging the original cover. I was able to re-sew the trim back on without damage.

The liner of this Knob Creek accordion pleated lampshade has a plastic liner. These vintage lampshades endure years of light bulb heat. The styrene liner gets brittle and cracks. This shade came to me in a box. These are the pieces!

This lampshade liner was shredding and falling inside the lampshade near the light bulb. My client removed the lampshade liner just to hold onto her lamp. It was purchased to match her decor and she did not want to replace the lamp, just repair the shade.

Vintage Rembrandt Lamps have such stature. Lamps of prestige and prominence. The drum lampshades are distinctive and trimmed to accent the lamp bases. The lampshades for these lamps deteriorate. The covers wear and tear. The liners shred over time.

Rembrandt lampshade wires are strong and made to rest on glass globes. The vertical wires are concave. The original fabric covers are drum tight, do not rest on a wire and keep their shape. It is a mystery to me.

Restored Rembrandt Lampshades with Ecru Shantung Styrene

In order to help clients with their quest to hold on to their lamps, I tried using fabric laminated styrene in an attempt to prolong the life of these beautiful lamps. Fabric laminated styrene is a fabric material adhered to plastic. Many many vintage tall large shades are made of this material.

This entire set of lamp shades have had the liners replaced. Beautiful Shades! One set of shades were Ethan Allan blush colored shades. The pleated shade is a Westwood lampshade. The set of gold covered shades did not have identification, but they are very nice deco lampshades. All the covers of these shades were in mint condition but the liners were shredding. All the shades came from one customer.

OHIO VALLEY SPORTSMAN CLUB RALLEY RIDING JERSEY LAMPSHADE

The ATV, MX riding season is nearly here! This Sinisalo riding jersey has been on countless Sportsman Club Ohio Valley Ralley rides. Powerline Park, Hopedale and Renegade Ridge are just to name a few of the tracks this riding jersey has graced. The jersey has been turned into a lampshade keepsake!

The Sinisalo riding jersey has been cleaned but still bears imbedded remains from the Ohio Valley tracks.

The front of the lampshade was made from the front of the Sinisalo riding jersey. The track debris is part of the character and memories of the Ohio Valley Ralley rides.

The back of the jersey has a locker tag logo print. To personalize “My Son’s” lampshade keepsake, I printed his name, company logo “Schaffer Construction” and the year to document when the keepsake was brought into existence.

Contemporary Vintage 1950’s Oval Lampshade Restored

This oval lampshade belongs to a vintage 1950’s contemporary lamp base. The oval lampshade was in need of repairs. The original shade was in great condition, but the fabric was starting to get brittle and split.

I removed all the fabric from the lampshade frame and there were only 4 vertical wires. There were no supporting wires on the oval part of the frame. Most unusual and making the restore more of a challenge.

My customer chose a white textured fabric for the new cover. The “icicle” cover fabric was a perfect fit for this vintage lamp.

The lamp base is a milky glass ceramic with metallic gold accents on a brass pedestal attached to a square marble base.

This lamp is a CLASSIC!
